Our love story begins in the hallways of Eleanor Roosevelt High School in 2011. It was here that Nirav and Bernadette met, as they shared many of the same classes and quickly became close friends. Shortly after graduating high school, Nirav attended Bernadette’s Debut (18th Birthday) and as she performed a dance and fell, Nirav fell for her. 

 

They kept talking and texting until one day Nirav asked Bernadette if she wanted to get ice cream with him. Bernadette immediately assumed it was a date, while Nirav saw it as an opportunity to get ice cream and drive his dad’s car. When Nirav pulled up to Bernadette’s house in a freshly waxed bright red C4 Corvette, it confirmed Bernadette’s suspicions that this was a date while Nirav remained oblivious and just thought the two were just hanging out. As the two shared ice cream (which Nirav thought was disgusting), he finally realized it wasn't just a friendly outing; it was the start of something more. 

 

From then on, Nirav and Bernadette’s relationship continued to deepen as they spent more and more time together sharing laughs, going to movies, going on early morning runs (the only time the two had ever gone for a run in our lives), and many Taco Bell dates (iykyk). In the beginning, neither of them thought the relationship would be serious because the two would be going their separate ways for college in a few weeks, with Bernadette going to UCI and Nirav to UCSD. However after two weeks of dating, the two were inseparable and thought it would be a “good idea” to start college in a long-distance relationship. 

 

During college, their relationship continued to grow and deepen despite experiencing many obstacles and challenges. After college graduation, Nirav and Bernadette continued to grow their relationship as they worked together at a psychiatric clinic. 

 

However, with acceptance into law school for Bernadette and medical school for Nirav, the couple began to worry about the future, their cultural differences, and differing family dynamics. This ultimately led them to the difficult decision of parting ways as they began their respective graduate programs. 

 

It was a heart-wrenching time, but it gave them both an opportunity to grow individually and excel in their respective fields. However, despite their attempts to move on, the bond between them persisted, haunting their thoughts. With the unwavering support of their loved ones, Nirav and Bernadette reunited and chose to give their love a second chance.

 

Upon rekindling their love, they introduced each other to their med/law school friends, reconnected their families, and embarked on a new journey together. Nirav knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. For Nirav, there was no doubt; he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. So, he meticulously planned a proposal, sought her parents' blessings. During a snowboarding session on Big Bear Mountain, Nirav faked an injury and while Bernadette worried about his injury, he pulled out a ring and asked Bernadette to marry him…and she said YES! 

 

With the love and support of their friends and family, Nirav and Bernadette cannot wait to begin a lifetime together filled with adventures, laughter, and endless love. 

 

Our journey from high school friends to soulmates has been filled with laughter, growth, and an unbreakable bond. We are so grateful for each of you and look forward to the future with all of you by our side.
